“Virgin Media Revamps TV Search with Visual Upgrade”

Virgin Media is set to introduce a significant upgrade to its TV platform, aimed at enhancing the user experience by making content discovery more visually engaging. The telecoms company announced the upcoming changes in a blog post, highlighting a more image-focused search function.

Currently, users navigate through a standard list view when searching for content on Virgin, but this is about to evolve with the upcoming update featuring vibrant images instead. Virgin stated, “We’re implementing helpful improvements to the search experience on our Stream box and Virgin TV 360.”

The traditional text-based search results are being replaced with image results, streamlining the process of finding desired content. Whether users opt for manual search queries or utilize the voice search feature, they will now be presented with visual tiles for relevant results.

The update is being automatically rolled out to compatible devices such as the 360 and Stream boxes, requiring no manual intervention from users. Virgin clarified, “No special actions are needed on our 360 or Stream boxes for this update. It will occur seamlessly on our end.”

This enhancement aims to expedite content discovery for users, potentially reducing the time spent browsing through channels. Virgin’s search function enables users to search for specific shows, movies, genres, and actors, enhancing the overall viewing experience.

To initiate a search, users can simply press the magnifying glass button on the remote and input their query, with just a few letters typically sufficient for Smart Search. Alternatively, users can activate the voice search by holding down the mic button on the remote and speaking the desired show’s name, with search options appearing as they type or speak.

Users can experiment with various search queries using their remote, including searching for specific shows, genres, or live sports events. The update aims to make content discovery more intuitive and efficient for Virgin Media users.
