“Winter Storm Brings Freezing Temperatures and Snow to UK”

Weather maps indicate potential freezing temperatures and snowfall in various parts of the UK tonight. The onset of winter has brought cold weather, strong winds, and snow to some regions, with predictions of continued adverse conditions. WX Charts forecasts suggest that areas in the UK may experience cold rain and possible snow showers.

According to the weather charts, snow flurries are expected in northern Scotland by 6pm today. Additionally, parts of the Highlands, North Wales, and northern England could face heavy showers by the same evening. Major cities such as Manchester and Liverpool are likely to be affected by the impending rainy weather.

Overnight, snow is anticipated to persist in central Scotland but may clear up by morning. Sunday is expected to bring more showers across the UK, particularly in Scotland, North Wales, and northern England, with the possibility of further downpours.

Despite the mapped forecasts, the Met Office acknowledges the difficulty of predicting snowfall accurately at this time. Instead, it anticipates more showers from the west accompanied by strong winds later in the day. The agency has issued yellow rain warnings for southern Wales and the southwest of England on Monday and Tuesday, with potential impacts on areas such as Hampshire, Herefordshire, Cardiff, Cornwall, Devon, and Bristol.

The Met Office warns of potential flooding and travel disruptions due to the heavy rains expected. Rainfall is expected to be persistent and heavy, especially overnight into Tuesday morning, with accumulations of 20-40 mm in various locations. Areas like Dartmoor and high ground in south Wales could see accumulations of 60-80 mm, with a slight chance of up to 100 mm in the most exposed areas. The saturated ground conditions increase the risk of flooding, and strong southerly winds could exacerbate the situation.
