Environment Canada has canceled a yellow alert for severe weather following a storm that swept through parts of southern Alberta on Tuesday evening. The agency had warned of potentially damaging wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rain as the storm progressed from Claresholm towards areas near Lethbridge and Medicine Hat. The initial warning issued earlier in the afternoon highlighted the potential for a dangerous thunderstorm capable of generating baseball-sized hail and causing destruction to buildings and trees.
