“Vodafone Unveils 5G Wi-Fi Router for High-Speed Internet”

Vodafone Introduces New 5G Wi-Fi Router for High-Speed Internet Access

Vodafone has unveiled an innovative way to connect to the internet using a 5G mobile signal instead of traditional copper or fibre cables. The new Wi-Fi router is designed to download files and stream movies seamlessly, catering to households that lack access to faster full fibre connections or individuals seeking more flexibility. This portable device is ideal for renters or students who frequently change residences.

One of the key advantages of this new system is its straightforward installation process. Powered by Vodafone’s network, users can easily set it up by plugging it into a power source, eliminating the need for technicians to visit or perform extensive installations. Users can simply turn it on and instantly access the internet.

While the new system offers speeds up to 150Mbps, which is suitable for activities like streaming movies on Netflix, sending emails, and working from home, it falls short compared to full fibre connections that can deliver speeds exceeding 900Mbps. For instance, downloading a full HD movie using the 5G router takes approximately 8 minutes, whereas a gigabit fibre connection accomplishes the same task in just 40 seconds.

To assist consumers in making informed decisions about their internet connection, Vodafone has launched an integrated availability checker on their website. By entering their postcode, customers can determine whether full fibre or 5G Broadband would provide the fastest speeds in their area.

Vodafone had previously offered 5G internet access through its GigaCube device, which has now been replaced by this new router. Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at VodafoneThree, emphasized the importance of providing fast and reliable broadband options to households currently experiencing slow and unreliable connections.

Vodafone’s 5G Broadband plans start at £21 per month, while Three, now part of Vodafone, offers a similar service priced at £11 for the initial nine months. This launch aims to expand internet access options for consumers, offering full fibre where available and powerful 5G Broadband where full fibre is not accessible, providing speed, convenience, and flexibility to users.
