“UK Braces for 60-Hour Snowfall Blitz”

Britons have received a caution of potentially enduring a challenging 60-hour period of snowfall hitting various regions of the nation, as indicated by weather maps.

The dropping temperatures are expected to bring snow showers across the UK in the coming days, with predictions suggesting snowfall could commence on December 17. WX Charts, utilizing data from MetDesk, has forecasted the possibility of snowfall covering the UK just before Christmas.

According to the weather maps, later on December 17, snowfall might affect parts of Western Scotland, extending down to North West England. The snowfall is anticipated to persist overnight and into the early hours of December 18, affecting Northern England, including Lancashire and Yorkshire.

Furthermore, the forecast indicates that snow showers could reach central Wales and even as far south as Devon, by 6 am on December 18, moving towards the south of Scotland. The snowy conditions are projected to continue into December 19, with additional snowfall likely in parts of Scotland and North Yorkshire.

In contrast to the WX Charts forecast, the Met Office’s long-range outlook for December 11 – 20 anticipates episodes of rain and strong winds prevailing across the country. The Met Office stated that a continuation of the weather pattern observed in early December is expected, with occasional heavy rain and potential periods of strong winds, alongside a likelihood of wintry conditions in northern regions.

As the possibility of snow in December looms, some individuals are speculating about the chances of a White Christmas on December 25 in the UK. The criteria for a White Christmas is met when a single snowflake falls anywhere in the country during December 25.

Looking ahead to the Christmas period from December 21 to January 4, the Met Office foresees “changeable conditions” across the UK, with low-pressure systems dominating, leading to showers or longer spells of heavy rain, especially in the north where hill snow is expected.
