“Starmer Agrees to Meet Radiation Victims After 435-Day Wait”

Keir Starmer has agreed to meet with victims of radiation experiments in Britain after 435 days of their initial request. The Prime Minister made this commitment in response to a BBC reporter, affirming his dedication to nuclear veterans by stating, “your campaign is our campaign.” He acknowledged the victims’ suffering and expressed willingness to meet with them, aiming to do so by the end of the year.

Advocates sought a meeting to address the Nuked Blood Scandal, revealed by the Mirror, which exposed human radiation experiments on military personnel during Cold War weapons tests. The collected blood and urine samples were kept secret, leading to denial of the program’s existence by government officials and lawyers for many years.

Thames Valley Police is currently conducting a significant review into allegations of widespread misconduct related to the scandal. The Mirror informed Mr. Starmer about the issue in September 2023, prompting his Downing Street team to stay updated on the investigation.

Despite previous attempts by campaign group LABRATS to secure a meeting with Mr. Starmer, no response was received until now. The group has been persistent in seeking redress and compensation for the affected veterans, with a viral video highlighting Labour ministers’ promises gaining substantial attention.

Following the recent promise of a meeting, Operation Grapple veteran John Morris, who suffered health issues linked to the tests, expressed hope that the PM would engage with them. He emphasized the importance of dialogue and a swift resolution to avoid costly legal battles. LABRATS founder Alan Owen presented a proposed solution of a one-year special tribunal to address the veterans’ grievances promptly, emphasizing the urgency due to the advanced age of the affected individuals.
