“Canada Dominates Puerto Rico in Women’s Volleyball Qualifier”

Top-seeded Canada is on the verge of securing a spot in the Olympics following a triumph over Puerto Rico during the inaugural game of the women’s volleyball NORCECA Continental Qualifier in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on Friday.

Canada claimed victory over Puerto Rico with set scores of 25-16, 25-22, 25-10, clinching a clean sweep in the best-of-five match. The Canadian team outperformed Puerto Rico in attacks (42-32), aces (4-2), points from errors (17-12), and blocks (12-2).

Expressing satisfaction with the team’s performance, Canadian head coach Giovanni Guidetti praised the players for their mental resilience and focus throughout the match. Despite Puerto Rico taking the lead in the second set, Canada maintained confidence and composure. Guidetti expressed optimism for the upcoming challenging match on Saturday.

Canada is set to face the Dominican Republic on Saturday as they vie for a coveted spot in the Olympics. Kiera Van Ryk of Canada emerged as the top scorer of the match, contributing 20 points with 13 attacks, three blocks, and four aces.
