Amy Blanc Lacy, a renowned script supervisor recognized for her contributions to popular TV shows like The Walking Dead and Halt and Catch Fire, passed away tragically following a high-speed hit-and-run collision in Atlanta on September 1, as confirmed by authorities.
Lacy, aged 62, was seated in the back of her son Oliver Lacy’s vehicle when 31-year-old Buck Rollins allegedly crashed into their car at a speed of 91 mph in a 45 mph zone.
According to the Atlanta Police Department, Rollins lost control of his vehicle, crossed a curb, and rammed into Lacy’s car. Lacy suffered severe injuries, resulting in her hospitalization in a coma, and sadly, she succumbed to her injuries four days later. Her sons, Oliver, 23, who was driving, and Adrian, 25, were also hospitalized post the collision.
An arrest report obtained from People reveals that Rollins fled the scene and was captured on video taking out his golf clubs and casually walking away from the accident site.
Rollins claimed to law enforcement that he had experienced a seizure after playing golf and did not recall leaving the scene. However, investigators found evidence from the car’s airbag control systems indicating that Rollins had ceased acceleration and started braking 2.5 seconds before the impact, casting doubt on his seizure claim.
Subsequently, Rollins surrendered himself to the authorities and is facing charges of first-degree vehicular homicide, hit and run, reckless driving, and speeding. Jail records show he was released on a $70,000 bond.
Stacey Elgin, a witness to the incident, recounted her attempt to intervene after witnessing the crash and following the fleeing vehicle, motivated by the desire to hold the responsible party accountable.
