Describing the win as a result of their superior pace, Ericsson attributed their success to strategic gameplay and precise execution when it mattered most. Grosjean finished in second place, marking his first top-five finish of the season, followed by Power in third and Alex Palou in fourth, who leads the driver rankings.
The race dynamics shifted when Kyle Kirkwood crashed out, prompting the Andretti Global team to focus on preventing Palou from accumulating more points to maintain Kirkwood’s title contention. Despite facing challenges, including a miscommunication incident between Power and Ericsson, the team managed to secure crucial points in the championship battle.
Grosjean, who had been defending against Palou for a significant portion of the race, eventually succumbed to Ericsson’s relentless pursuit due to fuel and tire wear issues. The intense competition on the 3.52-kilometer road course led to multiple caution periods and several cars retiring from the race.
Markham, hosting its first-ever IndyCar event after relocating from Toronto, showcased an exciting race weekend despite initial challenges with track completion.
