The Labour conference concluded with The Mirror’s renowned party where Cabinet ministers, MPs, political staff, and journalists relaxed after a hectic few days in Liverpool. The event commenced with Justice minister Alex Davies-Jones delivering a moving rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone, accompanied by Hillsborough campaigners.
Margaret Aspinall, who lost her son James in the 1989 Hillsborough tragedy, passionately advocated for a new law to prevent cover-ups without dilution. Later in the evening, Cabinet members Wes Streeting and Lisa Nandy energized the crowd with a spirited performance of Oasis’ Don’t Look Back in Anger. Streeting also took the stage to sing Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me.

Housing Secretary Steve Reed, sporting a ‘Build, Baby, Build’ cap, entertained the crowd with Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline. Chancellor Rachel Reeves and Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden were seen enjoying themselves at the event. The evening also featured editor Caroline Waterston welcoming guests to The Mirror’s traditional post-keynote speech party, hosted in collaboration with InHouse Communications and featuring drinks from Diageo.
The iconic Mirror chicken made an appearance at the party, with Health Secretary Wes Streeting even posing for a photo with it. The Mirror’s Sophie Huskisson joined a group on stage for a rendition of Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance with Somebody. The Mirror’s Mikey Smith showcased his talent with a performance of Green Day’s American Idiot.
Guests including the FT’s Jim Pickard and Sky News’ Beth Rigby were spotted enjoying the festivities. Jonathan Ashworth, a former shadow minister, basked in the lively atmosphere after donning a gold sequinned blazer for his performance.
