Tiger Woods Changes Plea to No Contest

Tiger Woods has changed his plea to no contest for a reckless driving charge in Florida. The renowned golfer had originally pleaded not guilty to a charge of driving under the influence. Woods was taken into custody after his SUV collided with a truck and overturned on its side on a residential road along the coast of Jupiter Island. According to a sheriff’s report, deputies discovered two pain pills in his possession and noted signs of impairment. Although Woods tested negative on a Breathalyzer, he declined to undergo a urine test.

Appearing in a Martin County courtroom, just north of Palm Beach County, Woods, 50, remained mostly silent during the proceedings. He was accompanied by his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, who is the former daughter-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump.

Fortunately, neither Woods nor the occupant of the other vehicle sustained injuries in the accident. However, his Land Rover caused approximately $5,000 US in damage to the truck, as stated in a police report. Woods informed a deputy that he was distracted by his phone and adjusting the radio when the collision occurred.

Despite being a prominent figure in golf, Woods has faced setbacks due to numerous surgeries on his back and knees, as well as previous car accidents and reliance on pain medication. Throughout his career, Woods has been involved in four accidents, leading him to take breaks from tournament play following the 2009 incident and the most recent crash. He has yet to make a return to competitive golf.
